Company Ownership

Waitomo was founded by Desmond Ormsby of Te Kuiti, New Zealand, in 1947. Prior to the de-regulation of both the transport and oil industries Waitomo operated exclusively in the Waitomo district. Today Waitomo has grown into one of the country's largest independent suppliers of petroleum products, supplying clients throughout New Zealand. Waitomo went through a period of joint ownership between the Ormsby family and Mobil Oil New Zealand, reverting back to family ownership in 2003.


Company Values

The company that Desmond Ormsby founded more that 60 years ago has remained true to his ideals conducting its business with honesty and integrity. Grey Ormsby, (Desmonds son), worked tirelessly during his tenure at Waitomo to make sure clients were provided with innovative supply solutions, excellent service, and great value. Grey is now the Chairman of Waitomo Petroleum Ltd's Board of Directors, and his son Jimmy Ormsby joined the company in 2003 and is now the Business Development Manager.
