Fuel Storage Management
How fuel is stored has a significant influence on the performance of the fuel. Tanks expand and contract with changes in temperature, and this process introduces water into the tank. Water is the main enemy of fuel, fuel installations and engines. Water acts as a catalyst for corrosion, and also provides an environment for the growth of micro-organisms, commonly referred to as diesel-bug. Corrosion creates free floating particles, not visible to the naked eye, that will; clog filters, damage injectors, decrease the life of you engine oil, and generally be harmful your engine. Diesel-Bug is just as harmful, but is clearly visible. Good fuel storage management starts with selecting the optimal tank size, and keeping it full.
