Jimmy Ormsby

Jimmy is the rangatira / owner of Waitomo. Grandson to founder Desmond Ormsby, and son of former Chairman and owner Grey Ormsby. Jimmy joined Waitomo in 2003 after returning to New Zealand from the UK in a business development role. He became a Director of Waitomo in 2009, a Managing Director in 2016, in 2020 the sole shareholder of Waitomo, and in 2023 stepped aside into his rangatira role to continue the mahi to deliver our vision of Waitomo being Kiwis first choice for fuel.

Outside work, Jimmy’s a keen skier, hitting the slopes with his wife Ailsa and teenage daughters Isla and Kiri. You’ll also find him most at home spending time with friends and family, boating and fishing, and travelling.
