Born and raised in Tokoroa, Julie joined the Waitomo whānau in 2024, after a career in health and safety for various organisations including the Wise Group, New Zealand Police, and The Lines Company. She is passionate about the health, safety, and wellbeing of all our whānau, enabling them to grow and thrive, because, as Julie says, he tangata, he tangata, he tangata – it’s the people.

Outside work, Julie enjoys the good life on a lifestyle block on the outskirts of Hamilton, including sheep, chickens, and a mandarin orchard. Come the weekend, you’ll catch her selling the vitamin c goodness at the local markets. 

Julie and her hubby are always on the move, visiting their blended family of five adult children and grandchildren, or on their own adventure overseas. A yearly tradition is heading to their favourite New Zealand holiday spot each summer (30 years and counting) camping at Hahei.
