Karel Oosthuysen

Health and Safety Manager

After a career working in the oil industry in South Africa for 22 years, Karel joined the Waitomo team in 2010. Karel headed up our Sales Team for 10 years, before taking the reins in health and safety – an area he is very passionate about. With health and safety being a top priority at Waitomo, no two days are the same for Karel. He is also responsible for our business improvement projects. Karel is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Safety Management.

Married to Jackie, with two beautiful daughters Taylor and Kaylee, Karel likes to keep fit and you’ll often find him on a family challenge, climbing a mountain, tramping, cycling and exploring.
